Story #4

A woman with bipolar disorder, anxiety, and a history of alcohol dependence initially maintained sobriety for 12 years. Following marital issues, she relapsed and began consuming significant amounts of alcohol daily.

Reaching a turning point, the woman sought help from a local support service. They prescribed medication to detox and manage cravings, which initially proved effective. However, the medication prescription period was limited, prompting the woman to reach out to Kelsey Family CIC for ongoing support through a wellbeing coach.

The woman experiences trauma related to past alcohol use, with memories of actions taken while under the influence potentially impacting her current life and sobriety. This has necessitated collaboration with other agencies to ensure continued sobriety.

The woman has now maintained sobriety for 6 months.
